Dr. Andres grew up in Clare, Illinois, a rural community 60 miles west of Chicago.  Raised on a grain and livestock farm he cared for a number of animals to include his Border Collie "Tippy" who whelped a number of litters and indoor cat "Kaht" not to mention every other imaginable farm animal to include buffalo. Graduating with a BS in Animal Science he went to Texas A&M to pursue an MS in Animal Nutrition.

His life changed when he decided to go into public relations for a non-profit organization in the agricultural field.  Two years later he had an opportunity to buy and operate a 300 cow/calf and 2200 sheep ranch in Ten Sleep, Wyoming. He returned to his passion, caring for animals. He lived there for a number of years until a friend from high school called and asked if he would be interested in moving back to Chicago to pursue a career in banking at The First National Bank of Chicago (now JP Morgan Chase).

Dr. Andres returned to Chicago, but kept the ranch for several years and worked in the Consumer Bank where by coincidence he worked with the Lincoln Park Zoo, Anti-Cruelty Society and John G. Shedd Aquarium on some banking issues.  This sparked an idea that maybe he could return to school to complete a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  Then in 1996, he returned to school to complete a DVM at Ross University and in 1999 finished his clinical year at the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2000.

Dr. Andres began his veterinary career as an associate at Misener-Holly Animal Hospital in Rogers Park and moved on to became Chief-of-Staff at City Cat Doctor in 2004. In late 2007, he opened Clark-N-Oak Animal Health Center to again work with both cats and dogs. He is a member of the AAFP, AVMA, CVMA, ISVMA and is the attending veterinarian for the IACUC committee that monitors ethical research practices at Loyola University's Lakeshore Campus.

Today, Dr. Andres approach to medicine is prevention first, involving early diagnosis and treatment. He is knowledgeable and approachable to discuss health options for our 4-legged friends. Dr. Andres works with several Day Care facilities providing information to the staff to provide a healthy environment for our pets while in day care. He sees day care as a healthy outlet for our pets as long as everyone understands the health risks, but with good training we can reduce health concerns with early detection.
